Ice lion How to strengthen your blood vessels after the sauna

The heat from the saunas dilates your blood vessels - this is healthy, but also puts a strain on your circulation. Rub your body with ice to close your blood vessels, stabilize your circulation and create a refreshing counterbalance to the heat. If you have any questions, our sauna master will be happy to help you.

Step by step towards deep relaxation The most important sauna rules at a glance

Take off your jewelry beforehand to avoid burns from heated metals. Next, take a shower and dry off well - this will help you to perspire. A warm foot bath makes it easier to get started. Start with a mild sauna and stay for 8-12 minutes, always on a towel.
Then you should get some fresh air before taking a cold shower (starting away from the heart) and taking a rest break, which should be at least as long as the sauna session itself.
Three sauna sessions per day are ideal in order not to overstrain your body and circulation and yet to strengthen them in the long term.

Kneipp water treading pool with playful metal area in the wellness area of the Rugard Thermal Strandhotel.

Kneipp walk Vitality through hot and cold water treading

A health classic - developed by Sebastian Kneipp in 1849 - is still an integral part of a holistic wellness experience today. Alternately treading water in warm and cold water after a sauna session promotes blood circulation, strengthens the blood vessels and is particularly helpful for heavy legs.

How it works:

Walk through the pools in the so-called stork walk - start in the warm water and then switch to the cold water. Stop briefly in each pool between changes (tip: count 5 deep breaths). Simple. Natural. Beneficial.

Rügen water Natural mineral water for your regeneration

Your body loses a lot of fluid and important minerals when you take a sauna - so drinking afterwards is particularly important! Rügenwasser helps you to balance your fluid levels, stimulates your metabolism and supports your circulation. Treat yourself to a glass after every sauna session - your body will thank you for it. If you have any questions, our sauna master will be happy to help you.

Our wellness and spa area is primarily reserved for hotel guests. However, we are happy to welcome external guests, subject to availability. To book your treatment, please contact us in advance.

  • What are the opening hours of the Rugard Royal Spa?

Our Rugard Royal Spa, including the pool area, is open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.

  • Is there step-free access to the Rugard Royal Spa?

Our Rugard Royal Spa, including the pool area, is located on the lower ground floor and can only be reached via a small staircase with three steps. Unfortunately, there is no step-free access to the spa.

  • What is the minimum age for children to stay at the Rugard Royal Spa?

As a family hotel, we aim to offer both our younger and older guests relaxation, fun and excitement. However, please note that for safety reasons, children under the age of twelve must be accompanied by a parent to access the wellness area.

  • Is the sauna area textile-free?

Our sauna area is textile-free, primarily for hygienic reasons. Swimwear is usually made from synthetic materials, which hinder the evaporation of sweat during a sauna session. As a result, sweat accumulates under the clothing. This is not only unhygienic – since the sweat is then released into the pool when swimming afterwards – but also less healthy, as it prevents the body from cooling down properly. We therefore kindly ask you to enjoy your sauna session without wearing textiles.

  • What treatments are offered at the Rugard Royal Spa?

In our wellness area, we pamper you with a range of luxurious treatments. Choose from facials, body treatments, massages, baths and body wraps, treatments for couples, the Rasul steam bath, and much more.

  • Which products and brands are used at the Rugard Royal Spa?

We care for your skin using exclusive cosmetics from Thalgo, Biodroga, Kurland, and Baehr.

  • Can beauty treatments also be booked by external guests?

External guests are warmly welcome to enjoy our beauty treatments, subject to availability. To ensure we can accommodate your preferred time, we kindly recommend arranging your appointment in advance.

  • Do beauty treatments need to be booked in advance?

To ensure we can provide your treatment at a time that best suits you, we kindly recommend reserving your appointment in advance.
